Not Cool

So the laptop manufacturer (coughcough*Hewlett-Packard*cough) have decided that my warranty will NOT cover my laptop dying, seeing as it expired on the 25th Feb. Never mind that I had actually called them with the problem in the beginning of Feb, and they did so much runaround and faxing back and forth of papers that it took that long! I am kind of mad. It's ok as I had got the extended warranty, but I have to chase up repairs with the company who does after manufacturer-warranty support.

Ho hum. Guess it will give me something to do on those on-call days. I also need to get tax stuff sorted out. Luckily, one has until June 30th to lodge the 07-08 tax return to get the $900 from the government. Woo hoo! Straight into the travel fund with that one!

In the mean time, I am borrowing flatmates' computer to make posts, check emails and so forth. The one inconvenient aspect is, it does not have the company roster software on it, so I cannot check my roster from home, or more importantly, the crew list if I get called out for a trip. Oh well. Hopefully it will be fixed soon.

  1. U know u should send them a formal complaint cuz u have proof that u contacted them before the expiry date. The fact that u have extended warranty shouldnt matter. It'll give em a kick in the pants.

  2. Damn computers and the inconsiderate companies out there who manage the warranties on them. You pay the money and then when you want it fix they try to shaft you. Money off the government always sounds good though!

  3. I once had a problem somewhat like that and wrote to the president of the company explaining why I would never purchase their product again and would tell all my friends why. I received a letter of apology and a brand new replacement.

  4. Oh that's just wrong!! Next time go Toshiba! My last one lasted me 5 years and I changed it because I wanted a new one, not because its dead!
And I too can't wait for my $900!! So gonna spend it on something useless! lol! That's what the government wants isn't it! :P

  5. VP makes a good point re the proof of contact. Might be worth giving it a whirl. Tell them your going on one of those shitty current affairs shows and that you'll tell all Australia how their company is taking food out of your mouth in these tough times.

Hope the $900 makes it to the travel fund - not the shoe fund!
