Shopping, Sydney & SkyHighBoy! (Part 1)

Well after settling in after the New Year rush, it was back on duty for me.

My NY trip was great, with a fun crew. Seeing as we got in to our layover port quite late, we decided to just have champagne and watch the fireworks from the hotel balcony. Of course we brought hats, nibbles, and those party blower things that roll out and make a hooty noise when you blow them. (I love them but the naighbours don't)

Next up was some time in Sydney, it's always fun when I get a bit of time there. As usual, I slept a bit when I got into the hotel as the flights had been through the night arriving first thing after curfew lifted at 6am Sydney time.

After sleeping, it was time for a shower and then I got dressed and headed down to the station to get the train into town. Catching the train in Sydney is cool, as it's underground and some of the tunnels have been there for like a hundred years or more. You can see how old they are because the ceilings are still black from soot. It's funny how you can feel the train before you see it as the big rush of air gets pushed along in front of the train.

I was on a mission to find a dress, not just any dress, but THE dress. I saw it in a magazine and fell in love. I want it to wear for my birthday, I've never bought myself a dress that expensive before (not too expensive, it's around the 120 mark)

Despite trying all the known stores which carried that brand, I was unsuccessful. Still waiting on an email from the label themselves to find out if maybe it's not been released yet. Oh well I have a month or so to find it!

In the Pitt St mall, this girl was trying to raise money for a plane ticket to visit her dying mother. She was challenging passers-by to a game of chess and was kicking ass in less than 3 minutes. Pretty amazing stuff! I hope she gets where she wants to go.

Of course Sydney wouldn't be complete without a little shopping (window shopping and REAL shopping!) I succumbed once more and bought this cute little pair of shoe-booties, how retro are these, but I love them!

Perhaps I was subconsciously influenced after reading this book in Borders:

I always liked how Dita did retro, she combines a few things I love: corsets, awesome shoes, 1940's fashion and pin-up/Varga girls. Think I might be adding this book to my shelf very very soon, the pictures alone are amazing and I don't think smutty, even in the fetish sction, it's an interesting look at the whole connection between burlesque and fetish, people think they're totally different but really they're not. And if you think fetish is only for freaks, well, if you've ever admired a girl in high heels then that is a fetish too! And not a bad one, I love girls in heels!

Anyhoo, I'm getting off track. After doing a bit more window-shopping, I receieved word from SkyHighBoy that he had touched down in Sydney and we made plans to meet for coffee & chat (the two things aside from shopping that we flight attendants do best!!) ^_^

I never get tired of looking at the buildings in Sydney, the QVB is one of my favourites:

Turns out that the giant Christmas tree in the Queen Victoria Building is a great meeting spot, if you don't mind being blinded by tourists taking photos, that is. (Not that I am a tourist taking photos, hehe)

  4. Oh my that tree was huge! I just recently saw an article on Dita. She was in a Pilates class in full on makeup! Can you believe that? She is never "off". And they showed a pic too. But I think she is amazing as well. Fab pictures as always!

  5. AndiMAC, was that Perez??

As for Dita, we can all only agree with her fashion sense, even for those without any, like myself. SHE IS JUST ALMIGHTY. And that pair you got TT is shiizzzles !

Also as G to the O to the T says, you've stop when it was getting interesting. We want to know more of your blogger meetup.

  7. OMG, those shoes ARE really similar to mine! Did you get them at Whitner? And what do you think of the new interior colours in the QVB? I like.

  8. Those shoes make me want to develop and nurture a heels fetish. Dita's stockings look pretty hot too.
Reminds me of a time at the Cesspit when a girl stripped on my dinner table as I drank champagne from her shoe.

  9. Hi, I'm new to your blog, but saw a lot of your posts on Westy's fun forum while we all waited for JS to live or die.

High heels and great fashion, now that's a man's dream who grew up in the 70's looking at Playboy Magazine. Can't say that I see that as a fetish at all, just a choice in what looks great on a woman.

Nothing wrong with jeans and a t-shirt, but feminine, girlie-girls will always win my vote.

So keep styling, young lady! :)

  10. Larry, with very few exceptions from 11pm to 6am heavy jets cannot land or take-off, it's due to Sydney's suburbs expanding around the airport in the years after it was built to keep the noise down for residents. It's a pain sometimes because if we don't get going in time it means we're stuck there for the night unless the authorities grant an exception.

L&S, well, you know what I mean... it's only a mild one as far as they go but you can see how people get started with a serious obssession with shoes that way :P

GoT, for sure let us know, that would be great! And thanks for your email too, I will get round to writing back, I promise!

SHB, yes, it was lucky... my credit card thanks you!

Andi, I remember her saying in an interview that she always wears her makeup and hair, even just lounging at home. Now that's dedication to being glam....

  11. Thanks Airboy, I've been experimenting lately with going a little bit outside of my usual style... being brave for 09!

Dorrie, it's pretty easy to use here, but I really really miss having the F&F feature from JS... no more work photos sadly! (Well except on FB that is)

Kim, they were from Betts but I think Betts carry the lines from there as well... Honestly didn't notice the new colours as too busy trying not to get squished by tourists! :P

Doanli, thanks, I like them more every time I look at them hee hee

L, I looooooove seamed stockings, I would wear them every day at work if I could, they've just got 'something' about them! None of this nasty modern crap! Unfortunately almost all of the glam has been sucked out of this flying gig! So when are you going to start at Blogger and tell us about the Champagne Shoe episode?? ;)

Timbook, thanks for stopping by! Know just what you mean, and while some girls can still make jeans look stylish, I despair of the 'sloppy' attitide some younger girls seem to think is cool these days...! You've just reminded me of a great video online I need to blog about soon...
