It Means a Lot...

After my computer dramas, I'm finally able to get back online with some regularity. I've missed chatting with all my Twitter friends and of course updating my blog. Hopefully now, the computer dramas are past and I can catch up on everything that I've missed.

Logging into Blogger, I see that I have hit 100 followers. It means a lot to know that there are that many people out there who are interested enough in what I have to say to come back again and read it. So know that each and every one of you who drops by to read, comment, email, follow or Tweet me is much appreciated!

I have somefun stuff in the works, so keep dropping by. Hope to be back to regular blogging schedule soon, along with some juicy flying gossip ;)

Apologies...

I've been a very negeelctful blog owner lately... so sorry to my faithful readers! There's a lot going on at Casa de Tray at the moment, but I'm hoping to have some new posts for you very soon. It's been some eventful flying lately, with some medical emergencies, lots of roster changes as well as plenty of interesting work gossip! There's been so many things to blog about, but sadly just no time. It's a sad truth that if one is not making money from writing a blog, that earning money must take priority... but rest assured that I haven't forgotten this completely!

Stay tuned for more from TT!

Crew Confession #1

I originally posted this as a comment on Heather's blog, but thought it deserved an airing here, too. I might have the urge to fess up to a few more misdeeds throughout my blogging days, nothing too bad of course, but we all have those 'moments'... hehe

Confession #1

I once rebooked a woman into a different (read: crappier) seat on a flight because we had difficulties with her reservation and she called me all sorts of names in another language she didn’t think I or my co-worker understood!

Needless to say, she would have loved 5 hours next to the lav on the plane we affectionately called ‘Stinky’ ;)

---

In other inanities, at the mall today I returned to the car with my shopping, only to hear rather mumbled shouting from the car parked next to mine. In it were two kids, no older than 5, waving & laughing at me. I waved back, then I noticed that they'd been left in the car on their own. With the keys in the car, and the radio on. Now, I get it if you're stepping out of the car to post a letter, or get gas. But GOING TO THE MALL? Like, hello! If the kids are older, like 12 or whatever, fine, for a few minutes, to get milk. But under 5s???

These kids were friendly to me, so I wonder what would happen if someone came up & tried to get them out of the car. I waited around a bit in my car, & eventually someone turned up. I felt like saying something, but as I don't have kids of my own, it probably would be seen as interfering. But I felt like telling the parent, 'hey by the way your kids were waving and talking to me through the window, saying hey lady come here, hello lady! Who knows, they might have come with me if I had wanted them to, just because I was a lady. And some kids thinkk 'stranger danger' is only from men.

Anywho. I kind of wish I'd said something. Any comments from parents welcome. Would you have said something, or are you happy to leave your kids for a few minutes, if the car is locked? (Bearing in mind it's not summer here, and was just getting dark)

Travel Fever...

Hello blog world... I know... I'm so lazy... got so much to blog about (that I promised to blog) but I seem to have a writer's block or something...

So, I will just write here & whatever comes out... is what you get. Ehehe.

parked on the couch with a doona (quilt for my non-Aussies) laptop and cable tv. Plenty of trash tv to be had. Now that my tax cheque has finally cleared, I'm investing in a few things for my trip.

On my list:

* Comfy travel pillow/blanket (Wanted a Pambee, but a bit out of my budget right now)
* Memory card backup (in case camera gets lost/stolen, & don't have to carry 10 cards)
* A travel bag (Pacsafe, for the anti-pickpocket features... good for Italy!)

I found the CUTEST travel pillow/blanket set, by Lug Travel, called the NapSac. Kinda like the PamBee, but in plush fabric. They don't ship to Australia (boohoo) but a kind FA on Twitter has offered to send it on for me if I order it & send it to her. Yay for crew helping crew!!

I found the Pacsafe bag I wanted on sale, but being a girl, I hated the puke-green colour (black was not on sale) and I figure it will get dirty, besides we all know black goes with everything! Good old eBay turned up the bag I wanted, in black, for half the price it costs here, INCLUDING postage from the UK. Woot!

Of course I am the queen of eye shades, travel-sized toiletries & all that jazz, so no need to buy any of those. But looking is still fun! :D

At the moment, I'm at the mercy of Scheduling, being on reserve, and so far it's been pretty quiet. Lots of crew have picked up trips, but not me. I'm hoping to pick up one to Melbourne when Airboy is there, so we can have a blogger's meetup. We'll see!!!

I have some blog posts to make about recent flights, but some of those will be on the Galley Curtain blog (due to bitching gossip about pax & other crew) So stay tuned for those.

Some of the things I have to write about:

* Super-disrupted layover where we ended up 1000miles from our intended destination
* Cute non-regular hotel we got to stay in, wish it were our regular hotel!
* The most vomit I've seen come from one human being EVER...
* Bitchy colleagues & lazy-ass crew members
* Love-life gossip (not much of my own, sadly)

Happy Birthday, SkyHighBoy!

At the moment I'm trying to work out a few kinks in my blogroll, for some reason it hasn't been updating a lot of the blogs, or they're not showing up, so I've been missing out on lots of posts, mainly ones from former JournalSpacers. Pity, I missed some good stuff! So hopefully I'll have that part up & running again soon!

Progress on my little 'project' has slowed a bit, I've decided to wait until after my vacation to really get things happening, but I will still be working on bits here & there up until then. Getting excited now!

Work has been uneventful, there hasn't been a lot of it really, so next few paychecks are gonna suck! No spare cash for 'playtime' as all excess after bills will be going towards the holiday.

Today I'm just at home, doing 'domestic' stuff... cleaned out the pantry, which was getting quite feral, and discovered lots of ingredients I didn't know I had. Some were still good, and I threw away anything past the expiry.

It's Sky High Boy's birthday,

and as he has to spend it away from home, we've organised to meet up. I promised to bake him a cake, so I did that yesterday. Now to do the icing (frosting some of you call it) which I'm hoping turns out as I've planned... and also another surprise which I think is pretty freaking awesome if I do say so myself!!!! Now I can't say what yet, of course, because he reads this blog, but I DO promise some piccies once the birthday guy has seen his sweet treats!!! :D As he is having a day out with the crew, I'm going to deliver them tomorrow afternoon, once SHb has finished zooming around the skies for the day. Hehe.

Later today I have a birthday to go to, pretty much a girls' night out, so looking fwd to the chance to dress up a bit & see some of my old colleagues who I haven't seen in a year or so! ok off to the shops to pick up some ingredients I need...

In My Free Time...

Hello again blog world, it's me, TT. Yes, I've been a bit lazy with the posting of late, but really there hasn't been that much to tell. I'm sure there is, if you like small, everyday details, bnut I don't have the energy to make one of those posts right now. I've been awake for quite awhile, and as is often the case with jetlag, just when I want to sleep I can't seem to. I've had a pretty full-on week or so of flights, with red-eyes, early starts, late finishes and minimum home time between trips, so as you can imagine I was feeling pretty wiped by this morning. Now that I've worked my max days in a row, I get a day off to rest and hopefully do some more of this:

You may have noticed that I, like Airboy, have succumbed to the Twitter craze, and am actually finding it a good in-between for the days I don't feel like posting on my blog. I do have Facebook, but for obvious reasons, keep that pretty much to real life friends & family. Twitter is great for interacting with everyone else who may not read my blog, but still want to have a conversation about airlines or travel, or to swap pictures, ask questions and so forth. So, if my posts are a bit lacking, make sure to pop by Twitter and have a look. You can read my Tweets (hehe) by clicking here =).

Aside from catching up on sleep & housework, I'm also planning on catching up with some friends, and also in a bit of exciting news, I'm working on a to-be-revealed project which is keeping me both busy & excited about the possibilities. Also stay tuned for some posts about really really cool, and really really sucky things that happen when you fly the skies for a living.

The always-awesome SkyHighBoy and I have been trying to catch up, but it seems that our respective scheduling departments have it in for us, and we are literally ending up on the opposite sides of the country at any given time, which makes it extremely difficult! One of these days, SHB!!!!!

Light As A Feather...

As you can see, I finally worked out how to add my Twitter posts (tweets?) to my blog. Not that they are that riveting, but anyway. I am such a noob, I was trying to think of a way to code it, but it turns out that Twitter just has an 'add to blog' button!

The turnaround ended up being ok. Half full on the way up, full on the way home. This flight is kind of notorious for a bit of misbehaving on the part of the pax, but they were ok this time. Jokey, and making mischief, but ok.

I bought a new rollaboard the other day. We get issued with company luggage, but have the option to purchase our own if we wish. I made do with the standard issue until now, but noticed on day trips that I needed something in between our tote bag, and our wheeled bag (which is bigger than passengers are allowed to bring on, because we do international trips)

My new one is so light! The company ones are heavy even empty, and by the time you pack even jeans, gym clothes and sneakers/trainers, it weighs a ton! let's not mention a laptop, book or any kind of company manual to study for SEP. Oh and the toiletries/makeup bag for the ladies!

So the new bag is a relief. I think I'll be trying to get away with carrying it ALL the time. Is strange how small it seems compared to the other one. I think it's onlly about 40cm tall. Wish I'd had this when I flew on the tiny planes- our tote bags would hardly fit under the seats, let alone our rollaboards! No 'buy your own' at that airline though!

The next week will see me doing a few 2 day trips and a couple of home reserves. So, need to catch up with paperwork, more SEP study and clean house!

A Little Blog Tweak...and a Good Read for Crew

Just to let you know, below the blogroll I have added links to 'Airportal', an e-magazine made by crew, for crew. (Ok, or for fans of crew!)

I had it on the blog since the start, but as it was at the bottom of the screen, and the blog is so long now, I thought I'd 'bump' it up closer to the top. It really is a good read, and a brilliant job by the girls considering they write it while flying long haul!

You can also join the Liz & Julie fan page on Facebook, where the girls are putting together the sequel to "You For Coffee, Sir?!", titled, "Let's Get Trollied!" Well worth it for a long haul flight, or those boring reserve days. Plenty of crew shenanigans and 'secret hostie's business' in there!

Hoping to make a few small changes to the blog over the next few weeks, and just improve it a little, seeing as I have neglected it a little during the Laptop Downtime.

Also, a welcome to a new blogger (well, new to me!) 'M' of Aviation Crazy, longtime poster to blogs such as Airboy and Tampax Towers. Check it out for some cool aircraft photos. Believe me, it is not so easy to get pretty photos of these flying machines, and to get decent composition to boot!

Welcome to the blogroll! =)

Another Week Goes By...

I'd love to make an exciting post about what's been going on, but truth be told, there's not a lot happening at the moment. Work has been really REALLY slow, and I've found myself with a lot of free time on my hands. Ok, so I squandered the first bit of free time by sleeping in and watching lots of cable tv, but I'm planning to make use of being home on reserve and hardly ever getting called out to fly.

Now that I've got my EeePC, I can do all those things I've been meaning to do, like:

* Post more here (including pic posts on my friends-only blog)
* Use my language learningg program again
* Get tax done
* Study for SEP (recurrent exams) using the online learning modules and virtual aircraft walk-throughs. (Those are pretty cool!)

This weekend is ANZAC Day in Australia, basically it's like Veteran's Day I suppose, except it's about remembering all Australian & NZ people who have ever served and died in war.

I plan to make a bigger post about that on the actual day (Saturday the 25th) which will include some pictures from the Australian War Memorial in Canberra.

The cool thing is, SkyHighBoy will be in my base city this weekend, and we are planning to meet up at some point. We were actually meant to meet up last time he was here, but because the stupid courier was late to pick up my laptop, I didn't make it as he had to catch an early flight the next morning. All going well, we can have a drink or two and of course the flight attendant favourite, lots of gossip! =D

I also had a bit of a big night out a few days ago, so aside from doing housework and watching tv, I've been taking it easy. That will all change once SEP comes closer though!

April 18, 2009

Hey people, yes I'm aware I've been quite slack in the posting department. Not that there hasn't been fun stuff going on, I just haven't felt like posting due to the computer hassles, among other things.

At the moment my airline is threatening to axe a whole heap of jobs, so of course we are all just a little bit worried at the moment. As someone who started within the last 2 years, I definitely fall within the 'axe-able' category. It would suck, but I've decided there's no point stressing about it as I won't be able to change the outcome if it's already been decided.

So, if it should happen, my plan is to go back to studying, and re-apply for Etihad when recruitment picks up again in September/October.

I've pretty much decided to pick up a mini netbook on the interest free plan to tide me over while my laptop gets repaired. Seeing as it's now been over two months, I'm not holding my breath to get it back anytime soon. I've been wanting a lighter one for travel anyway, and at least I can get stuff done in the downtime, especially if I need to look for work or study. Seeing as they run on average for about $500, paying that amount over 2 years interest free is almost nothing. So, may as well! Any recommendations? I know Heather just did a post about hers.

Ok, I'm off to take my little cousin to the movies!

Bikes, Bookings & Beach

Well. Where to begin. Such a lot to update on, I've nearly forgotten all the stuff I wanted to post about!

Exercise: I've been pretty good lately, yes ok I admit I've slacked off some days, but overall I don't think I've done too badly. Once in Perth I did a fast walk from South Perth (near the Mends St jetty) up to the park near Burswood Casino. And back. Not too bad. I was getting a little sick so haven't been riding the bike as much, but I did get out with my friend J yesterday and we did 45 minutes before deciding the weather was so nice we'd rather be at the beach! =D

I think the ride was overdoing it a bit as when I got back tot he car I had to lie down and put my feet up, feeling lightheaded. While I was lying there some guys playing football nearby kicked their ball over and it nearly knocked me out! Haha! But they were kind of cute so I forgave them.

J and I dumped our bikes in our cars then headed for the beach. Much better. The water was a little cold but it was really refreshing, being the Easter long weekend, it was really crowded but it was so nice just to be there, floating on the waves and talking. I also took the opportunity to take my new (waterproof) camera for its first test drive for underwater shots- as we were near the shore it wasn't too interesting underneath the water but it was fun to be able to have it with me and not worry about someone stealing it from my bag. The only drag to the day was that I was on call reserve, so had to keep checking my phone, but luckily I didn't get any calls so it was all good in the end.

Once we got too cold in the water we took our towels up onto the grass and just got some sun for awhile. I think I needed it after spending a few days mostly sleeping in bed. Once we dried off we decided we were both really hungry and went to get fish and chips. The line for the most popular place was really long, plus we decided it was a bit too expensive. There was a simple kebab joint down the road which also did fish and chips for half the price of the trendy place, so we got our food then sat down on our towels on the grass and ate. Our reward for being good about exercise was a really pretty sunset, which we watched the end of while going for a quick walk down the beach and back to work off the fried fish :P

Some lifeguards were training in their powerboat and it was really funny when they rounded a corner too quickly and threw the female lifeguard off the dinghy. Of course she screamed as she went over unexpectedly and the guys had to go pick her up out of the water, red faced. Hehe.

I've also done a couple of work trips which were really good, one to Singapore with some new crew which turned out to be a huge trip, mainly because we went out on the town the first night and stayed out til 3am (I only had 3 drinks the whole night as I'm kind of not into the drinking thing anymore, it doesn't do much for me, plus I already had a massive headache from work that day. SO I just had a vodka tonic or two and watched everyone else. We went to the bar Clinic which is decked out like a hospital, and you get drinks in drips and test tubes. But it was kind of expensive so really we sat around dithering over the menu while taking photos of us mucking around in the wheelchairs. All was good until two of the crew who had had more drinks than us decided it would be fun to take off in the wheelchairs down the street. So we got the 'move along' and then headed back for the hotel. On the way some of the crew decided it would be fun to go on the Reverse Bungy ride. Fun for all, even if you're only watching! Hehe

Singapore at night!

Next day I shopped a bit, had a fantastic pedicure (including leg massage and heat treatment), stocked up on my faves from the Body Shop (which I can't buy here at home) and found a fantastic pair of shoes to go with a new dress of mine. (More about the dress later!)

Plans for holiday going well, got my leave approved so now just waiting on booking confirmations. Singapore Airlines are having an awesome sale which will get me to London and back for around $1499. Emirates had a similar offer which I really wanted to do as it had a stopover in Dub-Dub, but I had to pay by tomorrow and my bank transfer won't be through by then. Oh well! SQ it is! I do like a Kebaya, and I'll get to fly on the A380. (I'm such a plane nerd, just had to include it so I could check it out.)

I plan to make a few posts today while I can as I am off on another trip tomorrow, so be sure to scroll down and check for the others =) Will also add some photos, once flatmate gets home with her work computer which isn't so slow as this one!

April 9, 2009

Argh Where Has the Week Gone?!

I've been meaning to make a post for the last few days, but for some reason I seem not to have had any time. There's a few things I want to write about, my I haven't really a) felt like posting and b) wanted to do battle with flatmate's crappy slow laptop.

The good thing is, I finally got my laptop back from the repairers. It seems to be mostly running ok, except they seem to have changed the Bluetooth settings so I can't actually send photos from my phone without resorting to SMS, which isn't free. Oh well, I'll just have to play with the settings until I get things back to how they were. I also have to try restore the data from my backup disk. But the space bar isn't working which is really really annoying me!!!!

I also had a good work trip which I'm planning to blog about, oh and of course a shoe post for the JS blog. Got some pictures to post once I have got everything back onto the laptop.

I thought I was getting the flu the last few days, but I chucked down some cold n flu tabs, drank heaps of water and I think hopefully I've kicked it before it got too bad.

Alright, better go back to house cleaning!

March 27, 2009

End of Summer...

Even though summer was officially over at the beginning of March, we've been having some quite nice weather. A friend & I decided to take the opportunity yesterday to hit the beach for one last outing. We thought it'd be really crowded, being a Friday and so nice out, that people might have taken the day off work to go. But, while there were a fair few people, it wasn't too crowded, so we were able to find a nice spot on the sand and relax.

The water was beautiful, really blue and refreshing.

I'm a bit of a wimp so of course squealed at first when I got in, it was kind of cold, but once in it was really nice. We swam around for a bit, then walked the length of the beach in knee-deep water to get our exercise quota. After that went up onto the breakwater to have a look around, then back down for some more swimming. This was fun until I thought I saw a sea snake, and we both ran away like girls and wouldn't go back in. (My friend & I are both really paranoid about creepy-crawlies, especially with so many shark attacks & sightings in Oz this summer)

On the exercise front, I've been really good. Did a one-hour walk on the river with my walking buddy, and did 5 k's on the bike (yeah it's not much in the scheme of things, but it's heaps for a noob like me). Also, I must be getting used to the bike as my butt doesn't seem to hurt so much any more. Pity the one-hour walk wiped out my hamstrings and they feel really sore! Good thing I didn't have to work today, and had a day off before that! =)

There's not too much else to report. Work has been pretty good, had some good flights with a lot of good passengers, and quite a few friends on the crew. Got another really good performance review which was great. (BTW yes I am photocopying these before signing them and handing them in so as to have them handy should the need arise)

Also looking into other options just in case any good opportunities come up. Ideally would like to stay where I am but I can't ignore the fact I'd really like to be doing a 'bit more' work-wise. What that is, I'm not sure yet. Either something different at my current airline, or maybe moving back to a regional in a training role. That would be cool, and leave the travelling for holidays.

Haven't done too much shopping lately, well aside from food and whatnot. Seeing as I've been at home on reserve a lot I've been buying up big on fresh fruit and other food, also have a bit of a thing for flowers lately. Bought some red roses today which are sitting in my bedroom looking really pretty.

Aside from that, just trying to enjoy the small things, taking time out to read books, chill out with my iPod and snuggle time with the kitties. I also found my diary from last year about writing down positive things. So I've been doing that this week and it's amazing when you think about it, just how many things in a day there are to be happy about or grateful for.

One more good thing that happened this week- I did an event gig and basically waitressed/organised the drinks & canapes for a fancy cocktail 'do for a designer here, and got very good compliments from the guests. But it was enough for me to know I'm not made to do waitressing full time. We have a lot of good equipment on the aircraft to help us, and it's amazing just how much we rely on it- I kept looking around the kitchen for things that weren't there, and found carrying a normal-sized tray weird!!! :P

Next month's roster is looking pretty sparse, only one international trip (boo) and a couple of two and three day trips, the rest is all home reserve. Yuck. So SHB and GirlOnTour, let me know if you're around at the same time as me and we'll see if we can manage a meetup!!! :P

March 14, 2009

Pretty Busy...

I haven't written anything here for quite a while, well I know it's not been that long really, but in my usual schedule of posting every few days, I guess it has!

I've just been up to the usual, flying my butt off, hanging out at home on reserve days and meeting up with the friends and family when I can.

Workwise, things have been pretty good. I've had some great flights, I've done some trips to Darwin, Melbourne & Brisbane (yes SHB, I hate our hotel as much as you do!!) and I had a really good performance review from one of the onboard managers. I've actually done a few flights with her lately, so she compiled those into the one review, and gave me really good marks.

Unfortunately, as with most businesses at the moment, the suffering economy is taking its toll. While the flights seem as full to me as ever, we are getting a bit of a doom-and-gloom speech from our managers. Nothing too bad, just that we have to be sure to work extra-hard to keep our passengers coming back to fly with us and to make sure they enjoy their flights. (Can be difficult when you feel your job is threatened, but oh well.) The other downer was that planned promotions are not going ahead, which means I'm stuck in employment limbo as to my status (at the moment on an open-ended contract, but that could change suddenly)

Other things happening? I've been taking advantage of the nice weather to sit by the pool on days off, or after early flights, and catching up with a good book. Today I went for a ride on my bike (yes it finally got assembled after much head-scratching due to the odd instructions which had nowhere near enough diagrams in them) and now I have a sore butt. (Must buy that padded seat cover). I'm nowhere in Kimmy's league, I just plan to ride as somehow it seems easier than walking for exercise.

And hallelujah, I managed to get my tax papers found from the abyss that is my storage room and get organised to finally file the damn thing, nearly a year after it was due. (Apparently I have til end of June to do it if I want the $900 government bonus- yes I do!) Add that to the estimated $1900 tax refund, and well, that's a good $2800 for the travel fund. Woo hoo! (I did dip into the savings a bit, but only to pay essential things like rent and car loan from the month I wasn't working)

Aside from that, I've been trying to be better at looking after myself. I kind of got slack during my leave, I stopped taking my vitamins etc and really noticed it. So I've been doing things like using a body scrub once a week, having a nice face mask at night before bed, taking a half hour in between housework to read a nice magazine (free from the plane of course) and just do things like that, 'me time'. I really got into it last year and I suppose wintertime is more conducive to it as there's more reason to stay indoors.

Lastly, the computer issues have been sorted, luckily I had taken out extra warranty and the company which provides the after-manufacturer warranty agreed to repair it. So off it went with the Toll man to get its checkup, they would only have got it today so I think maybe Monday or Tuesday they will look at it and maybe Wednesday I might get a call to tell me exactly what's wrong. Hopefully I'll have it Monday after next at the latest. In the meantime am getting photos printed out, just in case. Think I will stick to DVDs as backup from now on, as the portable hard drive saved everything in a weird archive format so I have no idea where a particular file is, and it's all compressed! Next time I will just copy and paste everything I think!!

March 8, 2009

Not Cool

So the laptop manufacturer (coughcough*Hewlett-Packard*cough) have decided that my warranty will NOT cover my laptop dying, seeing as it expired on the 25th Feb. Never mind that I had actually called them with the problem in the beginning of Feb, and they did so much runaround and faxing back and forth of papers that it took that long! I am kind of mad. It's ok as I had got the extended warranty, but I have to chase up repairs with the company who does after manufacturer-warranty support.

Ho hum. Guess it will give me something to do on those on-call days. I also need to get tax stuff sorted out. Luckily, one has until June 30th to lodge the 07-08 tax return to get the $900 from the government. Woo hoo! Straight into the travel fund with that one!

In the mean time, I am borrowing flatmates' computer to make posts, check emails and so forth. The one inconvenient aspect is, it does not have the company roster software on it, so I cannot check my roster from home, or more importantly, the crew list if I get called out for a trip. Oh well. Hopefully it will be fixed soon.

March 4, 2009

I'm Still Here... Sort of

I'm stil here, just not posting as much. Have been having intermanet/laptop issues, which I seem to have sorted for the time being. Fingers crossed laptop starts behaving. I had to reboot it to its factory settings. Luckily, the portable hard drive I had ordered arrived a day before the computer crapped out completely, so I still have all my photos and things. Getting support finally worked out once I managed to convince the computer people that I did, in fact, have more than a 12 month warranty, and that it hadn't expired.

On a side note, I've got the iTunes Top 20 playing in the background... does anyone else think that Beyonce looks totally hoochie in the clip for 'Single Ladies'?? Waving one's crotch at the camera while wearing a black leotard does not classy make, especially when you are more on the curvy side like she is. Nothing against her size, but that dance routine does her NO favours! Let's not even start on that HIDEOUS dress that she wore to the Oscars. Okay, back to your scheduled blog.

My latest work trip totally kicked my ass, al this time off does not good flight attendant condition make. Especially flying horrible red eye flights. I was so knackered, I didn't even go to the shops. Woke up 3 hours after I started my supposed 45-minute ' power nap'. Oops. Luckily the supermarket near the hotel was still open, so I got some supplies and then stopped by Subway to get a sub for dinner.

Weather has been nice, I'm on standby tomorrow but if I don't get called out I'm thinking I might head down to the local pool and sit with my book, get a bit of sun before it's gone and swim for a bit. Always fun!

In career news, I did hear back from Etihad, they said I have been shortlisted for their visit to Australia, and they will let me know what date they want me to come to an interview. Always worth checking out what other people are offering. I love my current job but it's just impossible to get anywhere career-wise at the moment. I don't want to be 30 and still renting... ugh. Though apparently if one moves to Queensland there are properties to buy that cost less than renting, and not too far from Brisvegas. Not sure I believe that, though. Hmm.

Withdrawal Symptoms

hey all.

Having Inter-ma-net troubles at the mo so probably won't post much over the next week or so.

Just sucks as I had quite a bit to post, too. Am writing with my trusty Nokia smartphone, but to be honest it's a bit of a pain in the ass so I think I'll wrap it up here. Will try check in on you all when I get a hotel that doesn't charge $20 an hour for internet!

The Calm Before the Storm...

Don't worry, nothing bad!!!

Just alluding to the fact that I've done pretty much sweet F-all over the last few days, in contrast to plans for the rest of the month.

Valentine's Day was fun, seeing as this year is all about me, I elected not to attend the varous 'singles parties' I'd been invited to, or go on a dinner date with any of the guys I've met recently (don't want that added pressure, thanks!) and instead opted for a girls' night in with booze, popcorn and DVDs. Perfect- no having to dress up for anyone else, can sit around being un-ladylike and best of all it didn't matter if we pigged out on chocolate (yes we did)

Meeting up with SHB again as he is in Perth at the same time as me (I'm on leave remember) and we're going to have some drinks and gossip, yay!! That should be good. Then drinks with the girls on Tuesday, movies & dinner on Wednesday. Thursday- not sure yet but am sure something can be arranged as it's after pay day (thank god!!) Friday- ditto just left it free for last-minute ideas, Saturday birthday dinner, Sunday- arvo session at the local pub.

So, should be good. I really do need to get off my ass and clean the house. I think Foxtel has had enough of my presence today!

February 13, 2009

Just got home from a quick dash to the shops- had meant to do a 'big shop' but being broke I just picked up some essentials- milk, juice, dinner stuff. I was glad to see that the banners at the checkout in Coles proclaimed that so far $1.5 million had been raised and all of today's profits go to bushfire appeal. I asked the checkout guy about the donations t checkout and he said they just add whatever you want to donate to your grocery bill. So I added an extra $20, feeling a bit bad that it couldn't be any more.

But I do have a ticket in the big Valentine's Day $14mil lotto draw, so if I win the 14 mil, I'll give $1mil to the bushfire appeal... deal??? :P

My last trip was a real ass-kicker, I can't believe how tired I felt afterwards. I think I'm still recovering!! This rest of this month is going to be huge, I have 3 birthday parties, a concert, a dance show and about 4 coffee dates to go to, not to mention the new movies I want to see at the cinema and of course appointments to do boring stuff like tax and doctor stuff.

Well that's pretty much it for now, not too much happening to blog about I'm afraid! That's what happens in the life of an FA when there's no drama- it's pretty boring really!!!

Oh and for anyone interested, Sam the Koala has found a boyfriend!!! =D

Sam was burnt in the fires and you may have seen pictures of her drinking out of a water bottle offered by a fireman.

Meeting Miss Mel

Hey all!

Well it's been a super huge weekend here at Casa de Tray, lots going on & I've been more social than I have in a long time! I think the rut I had got into for most of last year is over, and I'm feeling v positive and 'go getter' about this year. I've made a list of things that I want to do this year, and I MUST do them by Dec 31st. No 'try' for these few items!

Friday I had the chance to meet up with yet another fellow blogger, Miss Mel, of Tampax Towers. As she wrote, she had some leave so was visiting her home town, and I happened to be there too- so naturally, the only possible result was a meetup. Yay!

I got the train into the city, and had a bit of time to kill so wandered around trying to find an ATM. Since I was last there, everything had moved so it took me longer to find one than I expected. Finally I made it to our pre-arranged meeting point. I spotted Mel right away- there is something about flight attendants that one can see even when off-duty. (I have to add Mel, you looked Fab, I loved your skirt and yes being a details person I noticed your cute matching nail polish) :P

We decided coffee was the way to go. Mel had a place in mind which was cute, and tucked away unlike the big coffee chains, which can get too busy. This coffee spot was cool & shady, and had a nice breeze. We talked about all sorts of things- work, travels, our blogs, plans for the year, and of course boys!!! (hee hee)

Before we knew it our time was up and we had to scoot off- Mel to run arrands & myself to go to a wake sadly!!! (Hence my kind of casual appearance- I was actually packing a black dress & heels in my tote bag)

All in all it was v fun, thanks for setting it up Mel! Hope you enjoyed Cirque & that you have a safe trip back to Dub-Dub!

Next time let's try for SHB as well! =)
